Career Discrimination
In school, there were kids that get left out or picked on. It’s the same when you become an adult. Anybody that is different is often left out and/or picked on. That’s if they can get hired. If your differences are detectable, before hiring, then you have a lower chance of getting hired.
The Big Ones
Fat people are thought of as stupid and lazy. If you need a good job, lose some weight or be way better than everyone else.
Short people are thought of as less smart and incompetent. It’s like trusting your little brother or sister to be in charge of something important. It just doesn’t make sense to peoples brains. One solution is to wear elevator shoes, wear high heels, and clothing that slims you, making you look taller.
Colored people are often discriminated against, as well. It is sad that this still goes on, but times are getting better. Look at Obama!!
Age is a factor in discrimination. Even though both old and young are discriminated against, as a society, we focus on the old being discriminated against. Probably this is the case because the young people don’t really have a voice in society.
Native origin is another discrimination brought on by people. Someone may not like you because you are from Mexico or some other country.
People will often discriminate on sex. For example, you can’t get a job as a secretary if you are a man and a woman can’t get a job as a construction worker. People tend to fill in their societal norms that they feel are expected.
Dicrimination is Sometimes Legal
There are lots of other ways people discriminate. And, discrimination is actually legal for most reasons. For example, it is legal to discriminate against people that steal, smoke, lazy, uncooperative, mean, always late, unkind, jealous, bad tempered. You get the idea.
