We Only Hire the Best
Virtually every report out there shows the demand for computer scientists going up and being a good field to be in. However, let’s talk reality, for a moment.
An undisclosed company, I know personally, hires thousands of computer scientists and engineers yearly. They are a large company. In fact, they go to job fairs all over the country looking for people. Here is the interesting fact. They let over half the jobs go unfilled and turn away most applicants. Why? It’s simple. They only want the best.
Many companies are like this. If you are the best, people will be begging for you to work for them. If you are average, you will have a hard time.
As a point further, I know of many computer science graduates working as tech support and such for relatively low salaries. There are a lot of them that can’t find meaningful work.
