Attractive Business Career Woman

Behavioral Science Career

To those majoring in Economics, Sociology, and Behavioral Science listen carefully.  There are not very many jobs.  For example, the World Bank has 7,000 applications for every 200 positions in economics.  Those that are hired typically have a PhD from an Ivy League university and have 20 plus years of experience.  And, the job is not that highly paid.  Alan Greenspan was making 150k a year.  It may sound like a lot, but if you are the top guy in your field, in the country, that’s a poor salary.

If you say to yourself that you are doing it because you love it and that is what matters, you are probably deceiving yourself for one imortant reason.  1- When you graduate, you won’t be working in the field because there are no jobs.  If you then say, I’ll get some other job that is sort of related to my degree.  What you are really saying is that you will take a job that doesn’t require a degree and, in effect, the degree will do you no good in the job market.

Then again, if you are independently wealthy or going to attend Ivy League PhD programs, then go ahead and enjoy.
